• First Round Bale of the Season

From John Hasler@21:1/5 to All on Mon Oct 29 15:28:03 2018
The herd has started putting some pressure on the fences so I put out a
bale this afternoon (needed to get hay for the new guy arriving tomorrow anyway). They came in, nibbled a bit, and wandered off.

The herd is locked off the pastures and fully on hay now except for Jack
who has been letting himself out into the quarry pasture. I thought I
had blocked his escape route a couple of days ago but evidently four hot
wires weren't enough. Today I added two boards and a dead tree.

Dulci is still lame but improving. I was sure it was an abscess a
couple of days ago when she reacted to tapping the inside branch but I
can't find anything that justifies making a crater in her foot. Now she doesn't react to tapping at all and is willing to give the other foot. Hopefully she'll go sound soon and I can start working with her again.

    Two new boarders arriving Friday.
