Not so many contributors nowadays here on RCSD :-(

Unfortunately, it is more than true.

Interest in all world collections has been dropping as many can not
afford to 'keep up' with the spurious flood of 'issues'.

Many, as myself, have specialized in limited areas.

I 'trashed' my US collection when they went to garbage issues in the
1980's. Cut back my GB to pre-decimal and have further cut back to
    acquiring primarily QV period.

All that said, there's little of interest here for me, though I
'monitor' to aid where it falls within my area of study.

Same for me : from the 1st of January 2001, I stopped buying the
rubbish produced by the French Post. At that date the Euro became the
official currency of France and the face values were then written only
in Euros. I had nothing against the adoption of the Euro but it was a
    symbolic date.

At that date France has issued 3442 "ordinary" stamps (plus the "back of
the book" ones like Air Post, Postage Due, Pre-Cancelled, ...)
Amongst the 3442 my want list consists of about 10 stamps and I do not
think I will ever be abble to buy all of them :-)

So I decided to limit myself to the 106 stamps of the "Classic" period (1849-1900) and to acquired stamps of better quality from that period.

I also decided to begin to collect Australia after acquiring some 8 000 Australian stamps in a kiloware sale. And I was delighted and still am
in discovering the philately of this country that I visited lengtly in 2 occasions.

The same for me : I continue to come here and try to help if possible.

Thanks for this quite interesting site.
I noticed there is a chapter on Australia that I will visit in detail
    ASAP !

Haunt eBay and don't be afraid to contact the seller and make an offer
on a 'buy it now' listing. I've managed some early mint GB that way.

You should find a copy of Brusden-White if you are going to study OZ
in detail. They're the Yvert specialised of OZ. You'll also need
access to a 'black light' for the few issues in ordinary and
    'phosphor' coated.

Thanks for this quite interesting site.

It's only fair, just a few items, though I'm 97% complete as singles.

    Happy hunting!

Yes I know the reputation of the Brusden-White.
I have seen that the set of 9 volumes is at 645 AUS $ plus postage http://www.brusden-white.com.au/
I am not sure I will ever be able to buy them

You'll also need access to a 'black light' for the few issues

I imagine you are speaking of the 'helecon paper' stamps
Yes I have already two UV lamps, for each of the wavelengths
    used by the different countries.

    Go to:
    <http://www.bookfinder.com/?ref=bf_s2_hd_1>
Change the funds and country to yours, then enter:
    "Australian Commonwealth Specialists"
    as the title and just
    "White" as the author.

Right now there are three copies of the 1988 edition available for
under US$90. One in OZ and two in the UK.

Yes, it's 'old' but it has most of the necessary information until/if
you specialize in a period and need one of the 'new' edition volumes.

    Happiness is ...

Many thanks ! I just ordered a copy.
It may be the one in OZ at it will take 3 weeks to arrive !
    A nice Xmas present :-)
The shipping cost of 6 € is reasonable.
