Were Singapore (Malaya) stamps sold in Kuala Lumpur?

This question arose in a German discussion board when a letter was shown
which was franked with Singapore stamps, but postmarked in Kuala Lumpur:
Were Singapore stamps were also sold im Kuala Lumpur, back when
Singapore was part of Malaya (1946-1965)?
A related question would be, whether stamps issued by/for one part of
Malaya were valid for postage in the other parts, but the existence of
said letter already appears to provide an affirmative answer.
