We were here for Ian. It was exciting.
As Wayne said 44" of water in my living room. We also took the NW
corner of the hurricane but the wind didn't really cause many
problems. Lots of trees down but they didn't hit anything. The wind
did take out about 35 screen panels from my cage. I can live with
that. The water was a real bitch tho. I picked up some stuff but not
near enough. NOAA was saying 5-7 foot surge. It was more like 15 based
on the FEMA datum plane (whatever that is). Houses built to the
current 14' code got wet. I am supposed to be at 11 (finished floor)
and I got almost 4 feet. The flood took what you would expect. My wife
wanted new furniture anyway. The cabinets I built survived but store
bought cabinets have too much particle board in them to take much
water. The TVs mounted on the wall were OK but I still lost 3. (a 55,
a 40 and a small one I was using as a monitor). The only appliances to
survive was the beer fridge and an Ninja air fryer. My addition came
through unscathed. No drywall and no Romex. I am surprised at the
tools that survived. My table saw still works, the brad nailer works
and the air compressor works so I am building drawers and stuff for
the cabinets I can use. We will be replacing them eventually but I
    need storage now.
Things are going slow because it is just me doing this shit.
We lost all 3 vehicles but the boat was OK. I had it tied out on the
    canal and it was fine.
I was also amazed that I got the generator going the day after the
storm. It was under 2 feet of salt water.
I took the plug out, squirted WD40 in there and pulled it through a
few times. WD40 in the crank case then 2 oil changes and it ran for 5
days straight until FPL came back on line. I was running on propane so
    it never stopped.
I still have plenty to do but I am making progress.

Things still messy in pockets of this province more than 3 weeks after Fiona. Some still don't have power but they say it's mostly isolated individuals with trees or masts down on private property.

Sorry to hear of all the damage and losses but glad you and your
wife made it through ok. The media reports we watched up here
    were pretty accurate it seems.

    Take it slow.

Good to hear that the only damage is stuff that you can replace. The really important things that can't be replaced are still there. Good luck in getting things back to some semblance of normal.

    How is the memorial bridge?

It did a lot better than the Sanibel Causeway. There was no damage to
the bridge at all, just a lot of tree litter on it. Boat was fine too.
The lift motor went under and the bearings seized but I cracked them
loose with a pipe wench and got the boat out of the water. I have a
new motor in the garage that was up high enough to be OK. This is the
3d time I gave the lift motor up for dead and nursed it back to life
tho. I just keep the spare for when that doesn't work. I have a box of
6203 bearings that seem standard for all of these fractional HP motors
so I might just throw bearings at it. I already did the house pump and
I am about to start on the pool pump and spa pump. When Judy was in
the country club business I was rebuilding aerator motors a lot.
