I think Trump is probably well past his "best by" date but the
frustration of the 74 million out in fly over land is still there.
Some of you folks keep forgetting that. Be careful what you wish for.
The guy who scoops up that vote could be worse for you than Trump.

We live in interesting times. Democracy is always at risk in the midst of political, social and economic uncertainty but we need to keep on an even keel (to introduce a boating term). My concern is not for myself but for our country. Political
extremism is not the answer because it always ends badly.

With the run away crime with not penalty, inflation because of rampant government giveaways, those 74 million in flyover may very well be joined
by millions in crime ravaged Oregon, California, etc. California will not
go Republican as is to gerrymandered, but lots of other places are fed up!
Is why most of the very left want the electoral college gone. Let’s NY and Los Angeles dictate to the rest of the country. I think they stopped
teaching why the electoral college was formed. And as a friend said the popular vote has never elected a Republican President. The popular vote
never elected any President! People did not get to vote on the electors
for most of history. Was the states who elected the President and the
    populace elected congress.

There are plenty of people who think some Democrat policies being
rammed down their throat is political extremism.

Not everyone thinks the idea of drag shows for little kids is a good
idea. They don't like the idea of defunding the police. They don't
think every thug who starts a fight with a cop and gets his ass kicked
is a victim. They don't like the idea of tax money going to pay off
personal debts. They hate $5 gas and wonder why inflation is running
up to levels not seen since Carter.
Then there is just the coastal mentality that those folks in flyover
    country don't count.
They counted up to 74 million in 2020. If there are that many people
pissed about the status quo, that "quo" is going to change, one way or
    another.

Note I didn't even mention guns and abortion. Those things have been
the main driver of politics for the last half century. The coastals
are on the other side of them too.

If the Senate and the EC were gone, they don't even need NY to
    dominate politics in the country.
LA has more people than all the states in blue on this map.
