I have not objection to your tag lines. Election in 6 months. My favorite place to go is Bear Glacier. Sometimes charter other times paddle from
Lowel Point. That Glacier is meltiing back quickly. Based on GPS tracks it looks like about 700 feet to 800 feet a year. Plannning the Kachemak Bay

No, that would have been someone else.

I may have posted something like the following now and again (an excerpt
    from my journal):

"I went paddling today, and looked around at the familiar scenery. Each
time something came into view, my mind presented me with a word. Driftwood; jellyfish; wave; seal; current; eagle; cat's paw, and so on. Then there was
the bird I didn't know the name of, and I thought about all the words in my mind, and about the missing word. I liked the missing word best of all.
Once again I remember...it's time to forget.

Even the loveliest of words can only dance around the truth of
something...or at best, walk us to the door and let us go. The irony of
writing these very words does not escape me as I dance around the truth of
    even this moment.

Here I am, trying to write about how I love it when the words fall away,
and perception once again joins breathing as an unspoken act of nature.

I went paddling today, and it took me, like so many times before, to where nothing has a name."

I'm an organist, mostly doing substitute work for a few churches now.

Wonderful! :) When I was very young, I asked too many of the wrong
questions in Sunday School (downstairs at the church my parents took us
to), so they kicked me out, and sent me upstairs to play my 'cello in the services instead. :)

I commend you on your efforts. While those are all worthy, and certainly do decrease the amount of direct pollution you put into your local environment (always a good thing), unfortunately, most of our electricity still comes
from dirty sources. Even major hydroelectric dam systems cause massive, long-term environmental damage in their local environments.

As yet, and perhaps forever, it's impossible for any of us to be "perfect"
(as I type away on this lovely new laptop with all its bells and whistles developed and produced by our dirty research, development, and distribution chains), but some of us do what we can, and continue to strive for something better, cleaner.

As you also know--having encountered me on another, non-paddling-related site--I'm passionate about another electricity-sucking activity. Damn. It's hard to be perfect when some of the things we love have their continued downsides.

I'm trying to get myself as off-grid as possible, but again, if I still
resist going all the way back to hunter-gatherer status, I will remain eminently imperfect. Still, there is much we can do, and I'm all for doing
    all we can.

My "solution" to the paddling dilemma has always been to "live where I
paddle". When I was in Washington state (where I discovered my passion for ocean paddling), I moved to an oceanfront house, so I could walk out my
door, and launch on the beach. Now I live in Seward, a "paddling paradise"
    I came to quite intentionally.

At least you didn't say "I *never* paddle anymore". That would be truly
sad, and I wouldn't want you to suffer such a fate.

Yes, I always enjoyed his posts. That was all on the "Paddlewise" email

    Strickland's stories.

Right on Melissa. I just can't believe they (that many voters) actually fell for it!

Oh and my nephew Paul and his wife Kate and their two children just moved from PDX to Washington State, and they have a river/creek in their backyard. And my nephew bought a Tesla Model 3! :-) I can only imagine, I test drove a Tesla S and X's and they

So good to see an actual boater's post rather than just the plethora of SPAM!

And yes these are strange and disturbing times, but we humans did it! Via overpopulation, our industries and our wanton use of Fossil Fuels. We are now in the midst of the 6th Extinction on Planet Earth, the last being caused by that 6 mile wide
meteor that went meteorite and consequently caused the extinction of the Dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

I don't boat much anymore as I now primarily drive a 100% electric Nissan Leaf. And I divested my house's use of Fossil Fuels too, and had Sp[ire Gas come out and take the gas meter out of this house, so me and my 1930's house are 100% electric now.

    Hi John,

You like the Leaf? I've heard the batteries drop over time. I drive a Ford >> C-Max plugin and if I'm careful, I can avoid buying gas for months. I got >> over 4,400 miles between May and September last year on electric only. Got >> a quote for solar to do 80% of my power but its still a tad high so not
yet (thought it would be even better to charge the car with free power).

Oh, I wish I had a zillion $$$ so I could get solar panels all over the detached 3 car garage I have. That MAY suffice to charge my Leaf. I had my electrician run a 240VAC line to the detached 3 car garage for L2 electric car charging for each of the 3
car spaces, even though mine is the only electric car in it so far. I'm looking towards OUR FUTURE when we STOP using so damned many FOSSIL FUELS which have and ARE causing Climate Change, and spelling our HUMAN CAUSED 6th Extinction on the planet! No
one of the previous 5 Extinctions were caused by ANY life forms on our planet, This one is, and WE HUMANS are the cause!

Well, not sure about a zillion $$$'s. They wanted $20k to cover 80% of my electric bill on a 20 year second mortgage. I just upgraded to 200amp service so I can get a high speed charger in the garage (that upgrade was included
in the 20k price but prices for solar panels have gone up considerably in the last year because of the trade war with China).

Yep, China knows which side their energy bread is buttered on! And China has zillions of $$ thanks to that evil corporation I call Malwart! "Mal" is in malignant, malevolent, etc and "Wart" as in...well, A WART!

Good on YOU! Sounds like you are preparing very properly for moving to a 100% electric car! Believe me, you will NOT regret not spending ANY $$ on gasoline anymore! You won't get the range you had on your Fart Burners but the savings in gasoline and the
acceleration will make up for some of that!
