I'm tracking down some Puget Sound tug history. The ERIK FOSS was
operated by Foss Launch and Tug Company from 1952 at least through
1977. It was originally built in Bandon, Oregon, in 1908 as the
steam propellor tug GLEANER. She was purchased by Foss in 1952.

We have some photos of the GLEANER in our photo collection here
at the Douglas County Museum, and I was interested in this
reference to one of our subjects' still plying the waters in 1977.

Does anyone have any info on this tug's subsequent history? My
info source is Ernest L. Osborne's book, "Wooden Ships and
Master Craftsmen" [Bandon Historical Society, 1978], p. 17.

The Erik Foss was working at Bellingham Bay in 1963. I have a photo of the boat. Wes Gannaway
