We've been watching the nuthatches teaching their fledglings how to
eat from a suet block for several days , and it's obvious from their
multiple trips to the feeders (suet and seed) that the red belly
woodpeckers have some hungry kids at home . But the capper for today was
seeing a fledgling Pileated woodpecker learning how to perch on the
power pole outside our kitchen window . They're common here , but we
seldom see their young . I surely do love living in a clearing out in
the woods ! <<it's a totally shitty day out in the woods , t-storms all
day and a chance for some twister excitement>>
