• Woodpeckers Galore!

Fortunately they are not paying attention the wood on the house. :) I'm
seeing lots of male and female Downey's and Red Bellied Woodpeckers.
Eastern Bluebirds love the suet, too. (It's a berry mixture.) Spring
is nearly upon us here in Southern SC. I've seen the fluttering wings
of young Tufted Titmice... fledglings begging to be fed this early?

Butterflies are starting to show up again because flowers are starting
to bloom. Alligators are coming out of stasis, sunning themselves by
ponds (thankfully not by my house).

I'm waiting for the hummingbirds to show up. It's been such a mild
winter I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't show up early this year.

I've seen a Mockingbird hitting the suet a lot the past few days but he
always defers to the Red Bellied Woodpecker.

Hopefully the Mockingbird won't set up shop right outside my window and
drive me crazy all night, lol.

BTW I wonder if a Blue Jay would let a Red Bellied be dominant. Blue
Jays don't seem to be into suet though, I mostly see them drinking from
    my birdbath.

I'll have to try some of that, I always like seeing Bluebirds but they
don't seem to care much for my suet.

    I'm not envious, lol.

Usually around April 3 for me. Still have a pretty good supply of syrup
    from last year.

They do love to sing! I've seen a few Mockingbirds at the suet feeder.

Blue Jays around here seem to prefer seed or bugs they find in the
grass... or unshelled raw peanuts. I don't see them very often.

Continued Fresh water in the birdbath and the aforementioned berry-suet
have been bringing them in droves.

I had a false sighting earlier this month. I need to make some more sugar-water and store it in the fridge for when they do arrive.
