The Tour this year certainly gave me a large surprise, though I stumbled across a video of someone that was analyzing what would happen in the Time Trial by analyzing how Podagar and Reglich each performed in the Slovenian Time Trial before the Tour and
he was not only correct that Podagar could win but he underestimated the time gap.
In the hard climbs before the time trial Roglic' easily looked like he could outperform Podagar so I don't know if Roglic' didn't simply have a bad day or if Podagar was just that much better in time trial events.
Lance Armstrong and The Move were correct that this was something entirely different than Lemond blowing away Hinault in the '95 (???) Tour. Lemond's first use of the aero bars put Hinault at a strong disadvantage. Podagar and Roglic' were on entirely
equal terms as far as equipment was concerned so in this particular time trial it was Podagar almost from the flag.
Do we need to wonder if Podagar is going to be the new Froome?
