The 559 wheel rebuild turned out so nice that I've decided to rebuild
both front (406) wheels. Like my rear wheel rebuild, I can find no
data on the rim, so I'll have to wait until I get one of them
disassembled before I order spokes and nipples. I'll be using the old
hubs, which has easily replaceable canister bearings. The spokes and
nipples will be the only new parts. I suspect that like the spokes on
the old 559 wheel, there will be wear on these wheels.
Knowing that it will take a couple of weeks to measure and get the
spokes, I ordered a spare Catrike front wheel to use while I rebuild
the other two. Winter in Florida does not mean I won't be riding. It
will also be nice to have this new one as a spare wheel.
I've never needed a wheel truing stand to work on regular front and
rear wheels, but I can see no way to do the front wheels without one,
so I'll be ordering one of them, too, or maybe my wife or kids, or
grand kids will get me one for Christmas. I have dropped some hints.
