He doesn't define "bicycle machanic." Is it a guy who can install all
new drive train componants, or a guy who can only raise and lower the
    saddle?

I love Reason #7, from about 4:00 to 5:00. (Meh, but what does he know,
    right?)

    Also reason #5, 5:50 to 6:30. And from 12:48 - 13:00.

    Good video!

I would be a little more humble. Disc brakes weren't invented to make you buy a new bike. They were invented so that you could use superlight carbon wheels. They were invented because downhill full suspension bikes had huge tires on them and so could
stop their horrific speeds more efficiently. They were made so that Lou could believe that he had the newest and best technology available even though the ONLY place they are "better" is in the rain and that only marginally. Come on now - brakes are made
to make you slower not faster.

Aero bikes and wheels have virtually no effect on the common rider because they cannot ride fast enough to be in their performance profile. But we all have deep carbon wheels (even me) because they give you a slight edge on descents. Flunky who never in
his life spun out a 52-14 on flat ground probably has a 53-11. Coefficient of drag applies to everyone and unless you happen to be gifted on the level of the pros, none of this stuff is worth a tinkers damn. A steel bike is 5 or 6 lbs. heavier than a
carbon fiber superlight AND THERE AREN'T many of those made - a Taiwanese carbon fiber bike could weigh 30% more than those superlight bikes and nullify most of the advantage of carbon fiber while increasing the danger of a failure.

I know how to work on all of these things, but the tools for working on them are expensive and changing too often, It simply pays to take it to your local mechanic who has already had the problems and resolved them (particularly when you're suffering the
intense pain of shingles) instead of ordering the latest tools and waiting for them to come in.
