I don't think RAS is causing any problems getting more members, as there are many other choices. I suspect most newcomers do not participate or even lurk here; instead, they use their club's newsgroup. I monitor Williams Soaring, Seattle Glider Council,
and KAWO (Arlington, WA) groups, and very, very few of those posters appear here, and most of those are long-time pilots.
