• 2023 SSA Youth Flight Training Scholarships

    Attn: SSA Chapters; Gliding Clubs, Commercial Glider Operators, CFIGs, and SSA Youth/Junior Members (ages 13-25)

    Please forward this information to your home club and all interested parties.

    Youth ages 13-25 are encouraged to apply for an SSA Youth Flight Training Scholarship ($2,000 each). Funding for these scholarships have been provided through donations from multiple sources, including but not limited to Pat Costello, the estate of
    Dennis Purduski and the Community Foundation for Mississippi, John Stoffel, the Estate if Bill Ivans, George Moffat and others.

    At least two (2) Bultman Awards ($1,000), and possibly one (1) Junior CFIG Scholarship ($2,000) will be awarded too.

    Youth Scholarship Applicants should go to the following website and fill out the unified scholarship application: https://www.ssa.org/ssa-flight-training-scholarships/

    Scholarship Application Deadline: March 31, 2023

    Note 1: Youth (ages 13-18) who are not presently a member of the SSA can apply for a free SSA Cadet Membership in the SSA and become eligible to apply. See: https://www.ssa.org/junior-soaring/

    Note 2: Recipients of SSA Youth Flight Training Scholarships can spend their scholarship award at any SSA Chartered Club, Commercial Glider Operation, or other club or syndicate. Funds are for flight instruction, glider rental, tows, learning materials,
    and exams only, and will not pay for club dues.

    This is just a reminder there's less than 48 hours for young people (SSA Members ages 13-25) to apply for one of the many SSA Flight Training Scholarships and Bultman Awards that will be awarded to young people in 2023. Please help us get the word out
    about these scholarships and encourage any Juniors in your club to apply. We're seeking high quality applicants and will be looking to your letters of recommendation for information that may be helpful in selecting the best applicants who have an
    appreciation for and absolute love of soaring and likely to stay engaged in the sport.
