From soarsn@yahoo.com@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jul 9 09:12:32 2022
    ACTION:

    Final rule; request for comments.

    SUMMARY:

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Stemme AG (type certificate previously held by Stemme GmbH & Co. KG) Model Stemme S 12 gliders. This AD was prompted by mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the
aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product.

The text of the AD is available here: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2022/07/11/2022-14810/airworthiness-directives-stemme-ag-type-certificate-previously-held-by-stemme-gmbh-and-co-kg-gliders

Thanks for posting that. Fortunately for me, my S10-VT is not affected,
but I know several owners of new S12s that will be interested.

As always, these AD’s are annoying. The manufacturer screws up, but is happy to sell you the parts needed to fix it. I know glider manufacturers cannot provide warranty recall services like major auto manufacturers, but they could at least offer to
provide the parts for free. We’re not talking about company destroying costs here. This AD may require the replacement of some “fibreglass blocks” and the estimate is that the parts will cost US$1,000.

I would think an early adopter like yourself would be rocking an Elfin
    by now.

I really like the design of the Elfin but I don't think it's flying yet.
Certainly not certificated (Experimental or otherwise). My wife would
love the low entry height (me, too)!

That's weird. One of the TMG guys ordered one in 2018 for delivery in
Oct 2019! Sounds like another one of these projects that's slipping two
    years per year.
