This EV bus caught fire in seconds and was completely consumed in short order:And this was the SECOND electric bus fire in less than a MONTH! So, forget about dismissing it as a "low probability" event.

The US NFPA reports that an estimated 212,500 vehicle fires caused 560 civilian deaths 1,500 civilian injuries; and $1.9 billion in direct property damage in the US during 2018. Yet we're still using gasoline-powered airplanes.

Ian IN"Collisions were the leading cause of vehicle fires that resulted in
death." Yeah no kidding.
If you've got a collision serious enough to rupture the gas tank, it's a little hard to separate out whether the accident would have been
survivable without the fire. But we'll just make it sound like gasoline
was the root cause of the fatality, right? How about being honest and
saying the collision was the cause?

This is the EV parking lot inferno scenario that I posited in another thread. Welcome to the wonderful new world of "green" energy!

A collision can also crush a battery pack, which will trigger a thermal runaway.

A collision can also crush a battery pack, which will trigger a thermal runaway. It frequently does, but anytime you store large amounts of energy in an environment subject to catastrophic physical damage, you can get that
sort of reaction.
What makes me nervous about electric gliders is they can also catch fire while being charged, while being discharged, and even when just being stored. We all know gasoline is dangerous, but it's more predictable.
