Ian Strachan has been Chairman of GFAC (the IGC GNSS Flight Recorder Approvals Committee) since its formation in 1996, and has done a great deal of dedicated and effective service to the soaring world. Ian has now retired, although he will continue asa member of GFAC, and IGC have asked me to carry on as Chairman of the committee.
Communication has until now been through Ian’s personal e-mail address, which will soon go out of action, and future contact will be through the new e-mail gf...@fai.org.
We hope to continue to be an asset to the soaring world, approving new devices, working towards future implementations of Secure Flight Recording, answering questions about their use and assisting in verifying meritorious flights.
Best regards, Peter Purdie

As part of the scoring team for the '93 and '94 UK Open Class Nationals at Enstone, when loggers were first used, I've followed his stewardship with interest. Frank Whiteley
