U.K. Sending Depleted Uranium Shells to Ukraine Despite Russian Warning

I expect Russia will nuke Ukraine first. Ukraine has no Article 5 protection, Biden made that clear from the beginning:
    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-11/biden-says-he-d-fight-world-war-iii-for-nato-but-not-for-ukraine

    So has Macron: https://www.politico.eu/article/france-emmanuel-macron-nuclear-attack-russia-ukraine

As for the West itself, Russia will have to be more careful, but they will still strike. We can expect to see WMDs in NATO capitals/countries by proxy, at first. If that means Russia has to part with its major population centers too, I am certain Putin
is willing to do it. Covid has already killed nearly a million Russians. Russia sacrificed Moscow once before in order to defeat France. Putin came to power by killing his own people:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_apartment_bombings#Ryazan_incident

Both sides know how this thing inevitably ends: MAD. The loss of population centers is a foregone conclusion. WW3 will largely be won with advanced technology, not manpower. The only question for Putin is how to win.

Totalitarians are especially prone to miscalculation. All the more reason to expect further escalation from Putin. He is surrounded by belligerant sycophants.

On a deeper level, reason has never been man's primary motivation. A strong desire for justice or revenge can override one's normal tendency for self-preservation. We see this "logic" in a suicide bomber and the sting of a bumble bee. Putin himself is
70 years old, supposedly with terminal disease.

Depleted uranium is not a nuclear weapon. U-238 has a half life of 4.6 billion years which means that the level of radioactivity is so low that it is essentially harmless to humans.

The reason for its use is because it has three times the density of iron and that makes it an excellent armor penetrator.

Putin said the move was triggered by Britain's decision this past week to provide Ukraine with armor-piercing rounds containing depleted uranium.

Putin noted that Russia helped modernize Belarusian military aircraft last year to make them capable of carrying nuclear warheads. He said 10 such planes were ready to go. He said nuclear weapons also could be launched by the Iskander short-range
missiles that Russia provided to Belarus last year. https://www.npr.org/2023/03/25/1166089485/putin-russia-tactical-nuclear-weapons-belarus
