US military faces 'unprecedented' recruitment challenges

Not as many Americans are able to fight for their country, and not as many
are willing to fight for it, either. U.S. military and defense officials
are sounding the alarm that every branch is struggling to meet its fiscal
year 2022 recruiting goals - with a record low percentage of eligibility
and an even lower percentage of willingness to consider enlistment ..
Roughly 76% of U.S. adults ages 17 to 24 years are either too obese to
serve or have other medical issues or criminal histories that would deem
them ineligible without a waiver .. Now the percentage of Americans still willing to serve their country is only 9% ..

Wow, the irony is strong here. After all, Russians are fleeing their country to avoid having to serve in Ukraine. And be killed.

is this why russia has to recruit mercenaries sends its young boys into
battle with obsolete equipment, inadequate supplies and almost
    non-existent military intelligence

I hear the NoKos are offering 100,000 "volunteers" to help the Russkies:

I wonder how many will defect and ask for Ukrainian citizenship...

In wartime they'll take anyone who can breathe,
once recruiters can't meet their enlistment quotas...
