I will be installing a subaru EA-81 engine in the KR-2 that I am building and
was wondering which reduction drive on the market was the best. I know of a couple of reduction drive manufacturers- RFI in Albuquerque, NM, Reductions in
Dugald, Manitoba, and possibly Formula Power in Concord, CA

STAY AWAY from the reductions drive from Dugald.
It's a HIDEOUS thing. I spent hours and hours over severalmonths
trying to get the runout out of one. He sent me several replacements
for the multi-part hub - nothing was true and depending on how the
errors stacked it could be anything from just nasty to absolutely
terrible. Tracking from cold to hot was also totally unacceptable, to
    me.
RFI and Formula power had better reputations - and Status (no longer
in business AFAIK) also had a pretty decent reputation.

The lack of a decent , reasonably priced redrive for the Soob is what
made me consider the direct drive Corvair
