that one off racecar has as much in common with a Cup racer as a Cup
Camaro has to a factory street legal Camaro..

Hendrick Motorsports says that the systems and components on the Camaro
ZL1 are ‘largely unchanged’ from what you’ll find in the same car on Cup
Series weekends. Obvious modifications include real headlights and
taillights (kind of important when the sun goes down), a larger fuel
tank, uprated brakes – carbon ceramic items, no less – as well as new tyres developed by Goodyear.
It’s around 240kg lighter than the Cup car, too, while additional aero
(we can see new dive planes on the front wheel arches and on the
trailing edge of the rear three-quarter panels), should ensure the Le
Mans NASCAR racer is a bit more stable through la Sarthe’s trickier sections.

Daryl Wilson the differences are well documented, and a lot of them are
    visible in pics like this.

Derrick Mcneill Well, it's such more Cup racer than you are eluding to.

    Top contributor
Derrick Mcneill That's pretty inaccurate. This car would never pass a
NASCAR inspection but I would bet 90% of the components are the same as
a NASCAR. Where is 0% of a NASCAR is common with a street car

    Top contributor
Todd Bunger they literally said that everything is modified in some way.
at first they said they were only going to do what was needed for
durability and to pass safety tech so they could show how badass a
NASCAR Cup series car is, but then they started gluing stuff onto the
body for downforce and changed everything inside the cockpit, right down
to the Formula 1 style steering wheel with push button shifters instead
of the lever on the floor.
they said that driving this car would be nothing like a Cup racer.

    Top contributor
Derrick Mcneill well then let me put it very simply for you. Are there
any parts on the car is at our NASCAR?

    Top contributor
Todd Bunger my understanding is that the basic building blocks that they started with are the same- chassis, engine block, transmission case,
body panels,etc- but modified to be "better"...
which totally invalidates the original stated purpose of this car.

    Top contributor
Derrick Mcneill well if there was one NASCAR part on that car it has
more to do with the NASCAR than the NASCAR has to do with a street car
    which was my point.
Honestly I've never heard what the purpose of the car is. I've asked on
several posts and never got an answer. I assume it's just simply trying something and having fun with it. To me that doesn't mean garage 56 qualifications but...

Itll win its class easy 😉😁

I'm just curious, does anybody know what the point of this effort is?
Usually garage 56 is about pioneering technology that I just can't
figure out what the purpose of the investment here is.
No I'm not putting it down, just trying to understand it

    Top contributor
Todd Bunger it's about NASCAR wanting to hang out with other members of FIA.

Todd Bunger it’s basically a marketing campaign

Todd Bunger I believe this is the start of a effort for NASCAR to race
in Europe. The Car do not meet the rules to race in any LeMans class. So
just make the best car you can that sorta looks like American Iron.
Loud, Proud, and Fast. True the Vipers did very well in Europe. But they
were not the common mans car.

Michael Morelan NASCAR actually has a euroNASCAR series. I only learned
this today. 12 race series in 2023. The cars look more or less infinity
    series

Todd Bunger 75th Anniversary of NASCAR, there have been other NASCAR
entries at LeMans. Also a test bed to see how far the platform could be
    taken.

Todd Bunger I wonder if they are looking at making cars like this a
class at their events like the Daytona 24 hour

    Top contributor
David Hamilton it is more or less a GT3 car but the construction used,
isn't consistent with any other GT class. The Daytona 24 classes are
pretty close to the WEC and Le Mans classes intenionally.

I'm sorry but I just can't care about this
