A Georgia couple was charged with murdering their 10-week-old
daughter by diluting her breast milk, police sad.

Herbert (George) Landell, 26, and Lauren Fristed, 25, were
arrested Wednesday after they brought their dead "emaciated
daughter" to a hospital in March, Duluth Police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The girl, Nevaeh, was fed watered-down breast milk, which caused
brain swelling and low electrolyte and sodium levels that led to
her death, according to an arrest report.

Police said the couple lived in "unsanitary conditions" and
often presented the girl in "poor hygiene."

Landell and Fristed also refused to take their daughter for any
medical treatment, citing their Christian beliefs, until she was
already dead, police said.

They did not say why the couple would want to dilute breast milk.

Dr. Sujatha Reddy told 11Alive that children under 6 months old
should not drink water because it can cause confusion,
drowsiness and seizures.

Landell and Fristed were each charged with murder, cruelty to
children and aggravated battery.
