I own a 97 Civic EX 4 door. Now, I have 82,000 km on it. The engine
has started to developed a ticking noise when it was cold started. It
goes away when the engine is warm. I took it to a local dealership.
They have adjusted the valves clearance but that did not help. The
verdict from the dealership was the rod bearing inside the engine has
been damaged and it is not replaceable unless I replace the whole engine.
A Honda engine shouldn't break at 82,000 km. I would consider to
replace the engine if I had 182,000 km on it.
Does anyone have similar problem before? Any advice?
Felix
