I agree with you that I will not race very often in my Explorer, but I
did drag-race a Civic Si and smoked him... I still can't believe it, but
I did... maybe the other driver really sucked or something! The thing is
that on the highway, I usually drive around 85-90miles/hour. So when you decide to hit the gaz to pass some moron who stays on the left lane and doesn't mover from there, it doesn't take long to reach the 100 miles/h
limit and it gets really annoying when the guy you try to pass hits to
gaz too and you end up stalling right beside him and see him taking off
in laughter...
Anyways, everywhere I see that the limit is supposed to be 112 and not
100. So I want to know what's wrong with mine if it has a lower limit...
If it's to hide some kind of defect or something like that...

I guess my question is (and dont get too offended by this), but why do you need to drive over 100mph in a 4200lb vehicle that has a total height of over 60 inches (hence high C-of-G)?
I understand a sports car that you might take to the 1/4 strip, or race on a
track, but these things are just plain unstable at anything near 100mph.
Just my crazy notion ;)

I'm sure I have a speed limiter at 100 miles/hour on my Explorer Sport
99 with V6 SOHC since when I get to that speed, it simply goes on compression... Exactly like my friend's Cavalier Z24 does at 110 miles/hour... Can anybody point me to any official documentation that I could use to get this fixed? Everybody I ask tells me that it should cut at 112miles/hour and not 100miles/hour, but I can't find any proof anywhere... I sure would like to get my dealer to fix it, but they say that if it cuts at 100miles/hour, it cuts at that speed and that's it, not their problem...
Thanks a lot for any help you could give me...

thatYou know 125 is probably about the top speed of the vehicle anyway. My guess, is that on an Explorer with the 4.0L OHV (not the SOHC or V-8)
(shapedthe top speed is 110. This is just plain aerodynamics and physics
speedlike a brick, and weighs 4000+lbs). My guess is that there is not a
limiter on the vehicle.
