They have comparable standards of living, but they come up on the
short end of the comparison. Reducing energy usage has costs, and
reducing it drastically has high costs. The big one is less living
space; smaller and fewer cars (with all that implies) probably comes
next, though the mere availability of HVAC is likely in there.

The problem with socialism is there's always
someone with less ability and more need.

I’m probably a little late to this conversation but I want to comment on the changes of HVAC systems over the last couple of years and going into 2024 for us at Lee’s Air, Plumbing, & Heating an AC and plumbing company in Fresno, CA. With this
pandemic, and the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act to Make Home More Energy Efficient, we agree here in Fresno, CA that the cost has risen due to shortage of supplies and increase cost of goods and services such as cooper, refrigerant, and other
metals in HVAC systems. What is more, we at Lee’s Air, with the change to a new more energy-efficient and eco friendly refrigerant (R-32) and higher seer units in the coming years, these units are becoming more complex calling for a better more skilled
AC technicians to troubleshoot the ac systems. We do pay a premium and offers competitive perks such as healthcare, 401ks, and year-round training to have these skilled individuals but I’m noticing other companies are not which will lead to higher cost
for these services over time due to a lack of skilled tradesman. Check out www.leesair.com to see what we are doing.
