    Jochen Rindt died in 1970 at Monza and he was not wearing crotch belts.

    And less than a decade before, Stirling Moss threw a terrible snit
    about the US rule that his car had to have seat belts in it.

    And at this citation, you can see a picture of Jackie Stewart
    racing in 1966 with no belts at all.
