OK, I dug out the old files to be sure: In 1977 ICSCC / IRDC ran the
following groups:
Group 1, F/SR, E, F, G, H, I Production, C, D Sedans
Group 2, A, B, C, D Production, AA, A, B Sedans
Group 3, Formula A, B, C, & SV
Group 4, E, F, G, H Improved Production C, D Improved Sedans
Group 5, A, B, C, D Improved Production A, B Improved Sedans
Group 6, Formula Ford
Group 7, A, B, C, D, E Sports Racing
Group 8, Formula VEE
And in 1977 I chose to run ICSCC and only one Group a weekend, and I won
FSR.
And also from the old files,
Yes, indeed SCCA also regularly mixed Sports Racers with
Production based cars.
In those days, safety required full bodied cars race with other
full bodied cars, and away from formula cars.
(Nowdays, total weight seems the main determinant!)
