Lee Fjellanger I am quite amazed that we are not seeing a lot of
discussion about the VERY DANGEROUS piece of driving we saw that was
ignored. A driver in the rain, slid off track and crashed in a fairly predictable location, and the wreck was stuck there. The officials were
waving a yellow flag at the location, AND they declared a full course
safety car. But one driver, totally ignored these warnings, went too
fast in that corner, slid off track, narrowly missed the wrecked car,
and hit the wall about 100' past the wrecked car, and regained the
track. That type of driving can get someone killed, but since it was a multi-time WDC, the officials do not render any serious points against
    their license.

Here is a video of the situation. Lucky Leclerc was walking against the traffic. http://scuderiafans.com/watch-charles-leclerc-walking-away-crash-lewis-hamilton-loses-control-car-behind/?fbclid=IwAR2_QB6K0voPJODgpXevpMckXOU5gzkywFKgMtKe7pp-I95J9MtUxGiRiLI

Pauly Lewis I was thinking the same thing, felt like he narrowly missed
the Ferrari, then cuts the pit lane too. It was odd how they ignored it.
But I also think that there wasn't much they could do since even slow
    cars would spin off there

Aidan Dare Lucky that the exit through the barriers for the driver
wasn't anywhere near where hamilton crashed.
It wasn't too long ago that someone crashed under yellows at the scene
of another accident, and that was someones last accident...

Nikolas Schiavitto No drs all cars rendered equal (sort of) it was
amazing to watch how close the cars were racing and how much action
there was! As one point there was a block of 4 cars 2 x 2 turning the
    hairpin!

Lee Fjellanger The prior weekend I was working at Safety on a turn
station for a race. The drivers are expected to respect the flags we
wave for their, and our safety. A very short time before, the safety
workers were helping at Leclerc's car. Luckily they retreated to safety awaiting imposition of the Safety Car speed and grouping. Hamilton's car
came within about 10' of Leclerc's sitting car. That action was very
    dangerous.

Nick Bowler Ever thought that sometimes going slower on a wet track can
cause just as many issues? Downforce from aero is rather speed
    dependant......

Lee Fjellanger No. You are wrong. I have driven many races with a high downforce race car, and when racing in the wet, going slower does not
    "cause just as many issues".

Nick Bowler Lee Fjellanger , you have more experience than me (I have
some but not in aero dependent and it was a long time ago), but to say I
am wrong is a bit extreme, that’s not experience btw that’s the laws of Physics, if the car is depending on downforce for grip, the amount of
down force reduces with speed ergo so does grip . Less grip is a problem

Jeremy Hoyle Not sure if you noticed that the cars were following VSC
40% speed reduction in the waved yellow section. That doesnt mean a car
cant go off the circuit - look at how little it took for all the drivers
who went off there, and then how they had virtuall…See More

Julie Jones Well that's a new one isn't it, under a safety situation no
other cars will go off the circuit and if they do they will be
penalised. This isn't armchair "stuff" it's lay-back-on-your-lilo stuff,
    more beer ha ha

    Matt Brawley
Matt Brawley Well, as was noted later, drivers have to meet a delta time
in the first two laps under a yellow so Hamilton had to drive a specific
time through there. If you want to take it up with someone take it up
with how the FIA mandates minimum speed.

    Will Law
Will Law It was investigated and penalised by a team of stewards, far
more qualified, and with much more valid information and data, also, I
don't know if you saw, but there where a few people on the stands and
millions of other people watching via the hundreds of cameras round the
    track.
But you think you where the only one who noticed this supposed travesty?
Come on now, let's be realistic.
