    Good race today.

Nice to see Mclaren has improved so much, should make the rest of the season much more interesting.

That teams could go medium-hard once again shows that this generation of tires just last to long.

It was really nice to see McLaren back in the fight. It's the happiest
we've ever seen Lando and Piastri. Let's hope they can be up there for the
rest of the season. It would be nice to see Ferrari back in the fight as
well. Albon put on a good drive as well.

I have never been a big fan of the requirement to use (at least) two
different compounds in each race. Apparently some folks think pit stops
are exciting: I am not one of them. They -- pit stops -- *can be*
exciting -- if there is an error or delay. But this is relatively rare.

The same objective or requiring at least one pit stop could be obtained
by mandating that all cars needed to change their front wing. Or making
a stop-and-go pass through the pit. It's an artificial ploy whichever
    way you look at it.

If a team can get a single set of tires to last for the entire race,
then kudos to them. If another team thinks they can do better by
switching to a new set, then they should be free to do so.

The requirement to make at least one pit stop hurts any team which
doesn't need to make one. The pit stop introduces potential errors and
is an unnecessary risk for those teams who would not otherwise make a stop.

It follows from this that I am not a big fan of tires that only last for
a minimum number of laps. In the normal course of things, a soft tire is
not going to be as long lasting as a hard tire. If the rules were to
specify that the soft should -- for the average car -- only last, let's
say 1/3rd distance, and mediums only last 1/2 distance, teams could
still opt for the hard, which should last the full distance (on average)
and skip any pit stops if they can manage to either design a car that is
easy on its tires or drive in a manner to preserve the tires.

Teams who prioritize maximum speed may design a car that is faster but
harder on its tire. Depending on how hard on its tires will either mean
use of the soft or medium compound and a resulting pit stop as the tires
wear out. A team that maximizes tire life can run the hard compound and
avoid stopping, or run the mediums with one stop or, run the softs and
make multiple stops. Lots of options.

Despite recent durability developments, mandatory use of shyte tyres is

And you'd be the first one to start whining if the tires weren't "shyte" about how the races were "boring".

Nope, they're boring, including multi-year mandated use of shyte tyres.

Now fuck off and go back to bleating about iphone batteries.

Yes: the requirement to use at least two compounds is an artificiality
    to promote more interesting racing.

    And so is DRS.

And so are the limits on spending and on use of computer analysis of aerodynamics, and wind tunnel time.

    So what?

The races are fun to watch. We've had more than half of the teams get
    onto the podium this year.

Okay, so what would you do to make things not boring and the tires not shyte?  You have a free hand...what would you do?
