Yep, this is why they've banned the MGU-H from 2025 onwards. The FIA wanted new manufacturers and
any they approached said "we're not spending $$$$$ and a chunk of our reputations to perfect an
MGU-H in the public eye"* so the FIA wrote it out of the regs.
Never mind that they are essentially wasting all of the MGU-H research that the four current
manufacturers have sunk into F1 - or that the ICEs will never be as efficient as they are now again
(in a world where getting every last drop of usable energy from fuel is more important than ever) -
OR that turbo lag will rear it's ugly head in F1 again.
(*) It's said that Honda took 3+ years to get their MGU-H right. By outlawing it now the FIA have
basically written off three years of Honda's input and years of McLaren's struggles.
Ok, they're making the MGU-K 4 times as powerful but that doesn't change the fact that there's only
so much power that can be harvested from the rear wheels under braking and the teams are already
close to getting it all. To partially make up for this F1 could have introduced front axle
harvesting like Formula E has from next year...
