"I've not seen that before" - Martin Brundle after the Hamilton/Vestappen incident today.
I have - during the 1994 Indy 500.
I knew it involved Nigel Mansell, but couldn't remember the journeyman (US) driver, but knew it sounded like "Danny de Vito" or something.
Google is my friend - Dennis Vitolo.
(Use Google Images etc to see it).
I remember that it occurred under the Pace Car and that Vitolo was already a lap behind (in fact Google says he was THREE laps down) but somehow his car came to rest on top of Mansell's - both out - and Mansell was not happy (often cited as making him
leave Indycar at the end of that season).
Vitolo had re-mortgaged his house to get the drive (as a one-off as you can do in Indycar) - so hopefully he didn't end up homeless!
