I don't know about master stroke but it did seem a much better choice
than doing nothing.
His head is in the wrong place. He shouldn't just be thinking about his teammate when there was a bigger picture.

I'll guess we'll never know who made the decision. But he has been given
crap strategies this year so far, and much of last year. Strategies so
flawed that common-or-garden spectators were probably yelling at their TVs.
