• Sochi 2021 - VER v. BOT

From geoff@21:1/5 to All on Mon Sep 27 11:05:10 2021
Anybody other that me think that BOT's total lack of defending and
handing the overtake to VER 'on a plate' was his way of say "Fuck you
Lewis - I'm not assisting you, and fuck you Merc" ?

    I do not think that.

Although I do not know for sure, I would expect that there would
sufficient bonus clauses in his contract that he would be incentivized
to do the best he could. Perhaps not to point of letting Hamilton past
in order for Hamilton to place higher, but at least sufficient to get
    his best possible performance.

There's always the possibility of some difficulty with his car to
explain his lackluster performance today. So far, I have not seen
anything to justify this thought, but still...

I do think that although Bottas was able to turn a fast single lap or
two, his lack of race pace overall is what caused him to be dropped by Mercedes. Today was just another instance of this.

I've always believed that Bottas is only any good in clear air. He just doesn't do well in traffic
    at all.

Not really. Bottas has never looked that good at defending... or racing
really, compared to a number of other current drivers. His unimpressive performance was sadly consistent.
