Of course, the construction "any [conditional statement describing the
group referred to ]will be required to pass" pretty much removes
ambiguity about what "any" meant in the previous version.

"However, the latest version of the regulations, issued today sees Article 55.13 state that: "If the clerk of the course considers it safe to do so, and the message 'LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE' has been sent to all Competitors using the official
messaging system, all cars that have been lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the safety car"."

Given how far behind some cars can be couldn't this require the lead car(s) to take an extra lap depending on track length?

That's what the new ruling says "all cars that have been lapped by
the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the
    safety car"."

But I can't see the ambiguity in "ANY". "ANY" car that has been
lapped means "EVERY" car that has been lapped means "ALL" cars that
have been lapped. No way can it be interpreted as "SOME", or "THOSE
THAT ARE IN THE WAY OF VER".

    Perhaps Australians struggle with English.

I don't know that I can regain the interest this season.

you do not want cars trying to catch up with the back of the pack whilst marshals are still working on it, that's why they wait until it is clear.
got the sequence right this time though.
    all cars pass safety car,

Surely 'ANY' should have been "ALL". Just to leave
absolutely no room at all for misinterpretation.

Isn’t that what the revision does?

I find "any" a little vague, if it is intended to mean
    "all".

    geoff

And the new rule says ALL - that was the change

Yes, I had been reading the 21 regs as being the '22.

The 'any' bit didn't fit well with the 'required to' bit.

I stil dont believe that there was nything wrong with the original
rule that anyone with a basic understanding of English would have
found confusing. it was a smoke screen for a stupid F**k up.

IIRC the FIA never relied on it but RBR tried to use it to obfuscate
the regulation not being applied correctly but rather used in their
    favour.

How many safety car laps did it take to clear the Alpha Tauri?

I'm sure you can find out if you put your mind to it...

Half the remaining laps? And only then reshuffle the pack?

...or maybe it is beyond your limitations...

    FIA remains FUBAR.

I am not going to disagree.
