It isn't, because Mercedes have stated their intention to appeal (and
have another couple of days to actually do so).

I'm sure Merc will take every avenue available to challenge this, but
my experience is once a champion in any sport is crowned, it takes a
LOT to remove that crown. See under "2017 Houston Astros".

I tend to agree...but officially (de jure rather than de facto) he's not crowned until Thursday.

I don't think they want to change the WDC winner, but get
acknowledgement that the ending was irregular if not illegal.

    "Irregular"? Certainly.

But you know who it didn't seem to bother in the least?

    Lewis Hamilton.

He complained about his bad luck.

He complained about the speed of the safety car.

When told they'd be letting the lapped traffic (5 of them, anyway) through:

    Nothing.

When they told him the safety car was coming in on that same lap:

    Nothing.

    Nothing at all...

...until AFTER he'd failed to defend the inside and lost the lead...

...until AFTER he didn't overtake at the only remaining legitimate
    overtaking opportunities...

...and then suddenly it was "manipulated".

Do you think perhaps he had other things on his mind than trying to
recall the wording of section 48.12 of the Sporting code?

Any spark of intelligence you have ever shown seems to have been
    extinguished.

There is no argument. You are drowning; I am just describing the water.
