    Thanks for that. Maybe I'm weird, but it works in the opposite way
    for me. When a scuzzy regime hosts a popular sporting event, to me
    that increases the taint on the commercial rights holders, rather
    than reducing the taint on the scuzzy regime. It just draws attention
    to the corruptness we know is there, but chose to overlook most of
    the time. Some cases - Russia and Qatar managing to host everything -
    make it impossible to overlook.

    I couldn't agree more Phil. Scuzzy regimes usually have plenty of money - seeing who's got their
    hands out for it (and are willing to close their eyes to anything else) says the most.
