The 2018 24 hours of Daytona is over. Became a
bit of a nail bitter near the end.
Would they smartly do a repeat or Dan Gurney in 1962,
(slow, or stop, then cross line after time over),
no, they just did an extra lap, and won!

Plenty of drivers with F1 experience.

Seriously a nail biter??????? Other than the leader pussyfooting around at 4 seconds off the race pace after he got an insurmountable lead. There was no nail biting. If engine over heating was actually an issue he would have started reducing his pace long
before he got the insurmountable lead. There were no visual signs you would normally see when a car has over heating issues either.

Would not be surprised if IMSA did not give him an order to back it down after the distance record was set and he had a 3 lap lead on the next car in order to keep it from being the most boring Daytona 24 Hours in the past 10 years.

None of the classes were combated in the final two hours. P was 3 laps ahead of 2nd place, Chip was not going to let his teams battle with 1st and 2nd locked up and the GTD race was only close due to the two cars begin on different fueling schedules.

There was never really a sustained period of battling for position for the majority of the race.
