Looks as if the US open wheel community will never learn. Addition of the F-1 Drivers champion was a bust.

TV ratings in the US were down again. When will they learn the Europeanization of US open wheel is part of the problems and getting more big names from Europe to run is NOT going to improve TV ratings in the US.

US open wheel racing leaders should mark Feb 18th 1979 in their record book as the day that US Open wheel start6ed to die.

They just assumed that they will always be the top racing series in the US and did not keep their fingers on the pulse of the racing community.

There was once a time when the drivers who ran in the 500 on memorial day would spend Saturday night in June and July running USAC Sprint Car races at short tracks all across the US.You average fans knew them by name, bought their T-Shirts and local
drivers goal was to make it to the 500.

Today you do not see any Indy Car drivers shirts at your local track and the 500 that local drivers want to run is now the Daytona 500.
