• The twisted world of the NYT

From ScottW@21:1/5 to All on Sat Apr 15 21:56:25 2023
The New York Times has been accused of double standards by its own military correspondent, who noted his colleagues 'worked feverishly' to reveal who was behind the Pentagon leaks - yet would have worked equally intensely to protect his identity if he
had leaked the documents to them.

David Philipps, military correspondent for the Gray Lady, tweeted: 'The NYT worked feverishly to find the identity of the guy leaking TS docs on Discord. Ironically, if they same guy had leaked to the NYT, we'd be working feverishly to conceal it.'

and they stand accused of being basically righteous.
But it's only Stephen so no one really believes it.

Exactly. They were acting in service of the gov't this time!
Why? Is it because the leak was so devastatingly embarrassing to the Biden admin?
When has the NYT's ever acted to catch a leaker?

    Well, then.

"On Thursday, The Times published exclusive details about the identity
of the whistle-blower whose claims led Democrats to begin an impeachment inquiry against President Trump this week. (The article reported that
the whistle-blower is a C.I.A. officer who was previously detailed to
work at the White House and had expertise on Ukraine.)

Many readers, including some who work in national security and
intelligence, have criticized The Times’s decision to publish the
details, saying it potentially put the person’s life in danger and may
    have a chilling effect on would-be whistle-blowers."

And again...no clear statement of leaking classified docs.
But they outed a whistle blower which is not a good thing.
    NYTs still sucks.

I'm not a fan of the NYT overall despite the occasional excellence in reporting.

If they outed leakers or not is a distraction, but to be fair the
original post was a distraction, too, just a quip at the expense of the NYT.
