• Cuomo on NewsNation

From ScottW@21:1/5 to All on Sat Apr 15 09:25:23 2023
Isn't the dem ass kisser he was on CNN. Why?

Last night he opened with the Garland DoJ announcement of indictments against drug traders. It was a big grand affair.
    But did it mean anything?

According to Cuomo and guests....it does not. If fact it was a political charade. All the indicted are known cartel operatives and all already are under indictments and have been for years. Yet they continue to operate. Notably there were no Mexican
officials present at the grand charade. Why not? Garland was asked and claimed they never have foreign officials present at such events. Total BS. Many past indictments of Mexican and Colombian drug lords had Colombian and Mexican officials standing
shoulder to shoulder with US officials showing solidarity of purpose. We have no such display with Mexico under Biden.
The guests claim it's all a political stunt and they don't have the political will to stop the Fentanyl flow for fear it will impact other Mexican commerce.
They don't care about the 100,000 deaths. They do care about the polls and that's what their trying to change.

So why is Cuomo radically different in this new gig than he was on CNN?
Simple, NewsNation is after Fox audience. CNN has none worth chasing and MSNBC viewers are so indoctrinated there is little hope of prying them away....and Fox has by far the largest group to poach from.
They make no secret targeting Fox as Dan Abrams makes Fox a regular news item on his program. They claim to be straight news but that BS is proof otherwise. What some other networks take is on events is not news IMO. In any case Cuomo is clearly a new
character with a new schtick as he pursues building a new audience.
There isn't any fundamental morality beyond that as Stephen would preach.
And he claims to know Fox (which he won't watch at all for fear of being red-pilled) so he only knows about 'em what he's told by his liberal talking points anyway.

I thought it was Dominion that was breaking that ground with precedent.
Then again, I did say there was a silver lining.
It was interesting tonight as Dan Abrams spent his entire first segment trashing Tucker...again
and then going into the dominion case (as did Cuomo before him).
But then he did the Akron story of the Grand Jury finding the cops acted within the law.
He ran a clip of mostly MSNBC saying repeatedly the police shot and killed an unarmed black man.
Then how Akron police had to stop weaing ID tags due to the death threats on all the cops involved.
Should MSNBC be held liable for those threats given that "shot an unarmed black man" isn't
nearly a complete telling of the story? I would say yes.
Just like Don Lemon and CNN should be held liable for inciting a riot in Ferguson.
I'd love to see discovery in that. I would not be surprised to find they actually discussed
how their ratings could spike if they could get violence to break out in Ferguson.
Most of the rest of the media had moved on.

So, I'm generally disgusted by the current state of media and would be willing to risk
making it even worse on the chance that it might make it better.

    My test?

Are you backtracking on that too already? It was indefensible so I can understand if you are.

I assume you've made up some strawman and calling it my test. Maybe it's related to this:

    https://www.cjr.org/analysis/objectivity-wars-event-media-trust.php

"In an interview last fall, journalism scholar Jay Rosen referred to journalistic objectivity as the surface upon which enemies of the press
wield their war against the truth. “Every time you are shown not to be behaving objectively, you are kind of in violation of your code, and you
can be brought down because you’re not perfectly objective,” Rosen said. “And that’s a big attack surface, which the right wing has used very effectively to generate distrust in the news media.” As the right-wing
war on the press has intensified, many journalists and scholars have
continued to reevaluate the purpose and utility of objectivity in the newsroom."

Your implication that since bias is unavoidable, all media are as bad as
    Fox is the indefensible one.

    Fox: propaganda, will repeat falsehoods
Mainstream: ideally objective, can be corrected

    This isn't a "test."

Do you think things will get better if Republicans succeed in
making it easier to sue journalists?

I thought it was Dominion that was breaking that ground with precedent.

    https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/politics/2023/03/14/desantis-lawmaker-wish-to-make-it-easier-to-sue-journalists-gains-steam/70007391007/

Nothing easy about suing Fox. It took extraordinary evidence to get
Fox's lying recognized as fact by a court. No, Dominion is not breaking
ground, it's just that the requirements for proving defamation are
    difficult to meet.

Then again, I did say there was a silver lining.
It was interesting tonight as Dan Abrams spent his entire first segment trashing Tucker...again
and then going into the dominion case (as did Cuomo before him).
But then he did the Akron story of the Grand Jury finding the cops acted within the law.

Should MSNBC be held liable for those threats given that "shot an unarmed black man" isn't
nearly a complete telling of the story? I would say yes.

"Had to stop wearing ID tags"? Isn't that the police illegally hiding
their identity to avoid consequences for bad behavior? Talk about an
    incomplete story.

The MSNBC report I saw included the police claim that he was armed.

If you can imagine it, it must be true. In the real world, heavy-handed response by law enforcement exacerbated the riots which were themselves
in part a response to decades of civil rights violations.

So, I'm generally disgusted by the current state of media and would be willing to risk
making it even worse on the chance that it might make it better.

By supporting Fox, NewMax, and the right blogistan, you'll get your wish
    that it will get worse.

    It never really existed.

Even new and improved Cuomo slipped and revealed his true colors.
