    No...the evil occurred long before.

I wonder which of these statement Stephen would be more inclined to support. Crazy lady on Iwo Jima or Joe's post war war prevention crap.

    https://news.maryland.gov/msde/maryland-state-department-of-education-provides-update-to-statewide-spring-2022-maryland-comprehensive-assessment-program-mcap-results/

"Although math outcomes reflect national trends of persistent low
proficiency rates, the results show that many students are near
proficiency levels, scoring in the performance level just below
proficient. For example, statewide data indicates that while 24.6% of
fifth grade students were proficient in math, 49.4% of fifth graders
scored at performance level 2, developing learners..."

Half the students are below average?

"In mathematics, student performance has not returned to pre-pandemic
levels. In fact, math proficiency percentages for grades 3 through 8
combined decreased from 33% in 2018-2019 to 22% in 2021-2022. In middle
school, 18% of sixth grade students were proficient in math and just 7%
of students who took the grade 8 assessment were proficient... The
percent of students proficient in Algebra I was 14%, below pre-pandemic
results of 27% proficient in 2019...

The Spring 2022 MCAP results include four student performance levels: distinguished learner, proficient learner, developing learner and
beginning learner. Both distinguished and proficient learners are
    considered proficient."

While this is bad and improvement is needed, it should be pointed out
the word 'proficient' is part of a new vocabulary not an absolute
measure of math ability. In the old vocabulary, it looks like many
schools have students testing no higher than a C grade. Sure, some of
those schools might have special populations: alternative schools for
    learning disabilities, delinquents, etc.

That's given, as it's in the link. And remember the "proficiency" in
this case means the top two rankings out of four, possibly "above average."

You read the article and didn't follow the link to the pronouns. Seems
    more a 'you' problem.

Here's an easy way to remember: it's "Don Giovanni," not "Donna Giovanna."

Hmm. Wiki shows a 2015 play, "Donna Giovanna, the Trickster of Salerno,"
which "is considered an innovative feminine and bisexual version of the mythical figure of Don Juan, El Burlador de Sevilla."

As I don't follow Florentine theater, it escaped my notice.

an active politician? Never mind a Republican.

Only when every Dem quoted as such.

That leaves the more prominent omission of 'active political figure.'
One learns to check right-wing sources because they often omit these connections when quoting supposedly representative local figures.

proficiency rates, the results show that many students are near
proficiency levels, scoring in the performance level just below
proficient. For example, statewide data indicates that while 24.6% of >>>> fifth grade students were proficient in math, 49.4% of fifth graders >>>> scored at performance level 2, developing learners..."

Half the students are below average?

That's "statewide data" you fucking moron.
Half the students statewide are below average?

It's your link, don't ask me.
Why not? You're chiming in on the details.
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BALTIMORE GET IT?
In Batimore its more like 90% below proficiency
Given that 23 schools are at 100% below proficiency
That's given, as it's in the link. And remember the "proficiency" in
this case means the top two rankings out of four, possibly "above average." >>> Maryland schools ae quite good, on a statewide basis, i've seen them
    ranked sixth or seventh, nationally.

BUT, WE ARE TALKING BALTIMORE CITY
    an abysmal failure
and you continually refuse to acknowledge that situation,
    over and over again.
Then why did Mr Open Mind snip my comment, "this is bad and improvement >> is needed"? And, "many schools have students testing no higher than a C >> grade"?

Because I didn't disagree with that,
I only mark up what I DISAGREE with,
    for brevity's sake.
Except you were in such a hurry to disagree you didn't see that I
actually agree but was commenting on an absurd aspect of the how the
    results were described.
You're a sucker for those Sinclair News pieces, aren't you? Don't you
find the tone leads to biased conclusions?

And you folloow CNN. MSNBC, NPR, etc.
    So fucking what?
Except I don't. Sinclair has a strong anti-public school bias: they even have a special project to make slanted news pieces to get you riled up
    about bad schools.
And the parent quoted in the article is not a random parent, but a
former candidate for city council who has filed a lawsuit against the >>>> school system.

AS well she should! Good for her

I probably dead named her too!
    Burn me at the stake!!!
    You are gender obsessed.
You read the article and didn't follow the link to the pronouns. Seems
    more a 'you' problem.

I read the article, but didn't have it on the screen when I wrote my response. Faulty memory
