• Joe's stupid energy policy is making AGW worse

From ScottW@21:1/5 to All on Sun Dec 18 19:40:19 2022
Global coal consumption will reach an all-time record by the end of 2022 as shortages of natural gas have driven up energy prices, forcing countries to burn more coal, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

The international community is set to use over 8 billion tons of coal in 2022, representing a 1.2% increase in coal consumption compared to 2021, as countries began using coal as a cheaper alternative to natural gas after prices spiked following Russia’
s invasion of Ukraine, according to the IEA’s annual coal report which was released Friday. The agency predicts that coal consumption will hover around such levels until 2025 as although coal demand could fall in the West, it remains high in developing
Asian nations like China and India.

The US had the potential to keep the world off coal and on nat gas in spite of the war in Ukraine but Biden's effort to crush US fossil fuel development has not allowed the industry to step up and fill the void.

As a consequence CO2 emissions keep rising and the facade of combatting AGW crumbles.

    Meanwhile....

A majority of voters are unwilling to pay more than $10 out of their own pockets monthly to mitigate climate change, according to a poll released Friday.

Over 40% of respondents said that they would not pay a single dollar of their own money each month to reduce the impact of climate change while only 17% said they would be willing to spend $10 or less, according to a CRC Advisors poll conducted for the
Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), a libertarian think tank. About 25% of young voters (ages 18-24) aren’t willing to pay anything to combat climate change and 30% would only be willing to spend an additional $1 to $20 monthly, while 48% of voters
ages 25-34 would not spend more than an additional $10 per month.

Experts in the economics of energy, however, say that U.S. energy
production hasn’t been scaled back by Biden and that Europe’s only path
to energy independence is to transition away from fossil fuels.

“It’s a deeply cynical ploy,” said Tyson Slocum, director of the energy program at Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy watchdog. “These are the
same exact talking points they've been using for 40 years, and whatever
the situation, it shows we should drill more. I’m embarrassed for them
to try to exploit a tragedy.”

CEI sponsored poll vs Slocum the expert at Public Citizen.

Hmmm...who to believe? Meanwhile....the IEA points out the world is still spewing
ever more Co2.....while Joe fails to save the planet and Stephen redirects blame...as if that's
going to matter when humanity ends.
