• B&B - Social Distancing Not Working

From Karen S.@21:1/5 to All on Tue Aug 4 09:15:49 2020
I wonder why the writers at B&B decided to start off new episodes with shows that include hospital scenes and situations where people would normally be close together, like in the hospital, huddled around Steffy's bed? In situations where (normally)
people would be embracing and showing emotion, they are locked across the room from one another.

It's very obvious, contrived, and it just doesn't work.

(I hope everybody's well and safe.)

Well, that wouldn't be the first thing that hasn't worked at this soap. How often have you seen a family member getting into an accident with another IRL? What are the odds? I have been around for almost 7 decades and I never heard of an automobile
accident among relatives. Well, maybe a fender bender at a family reunion, but not on the open road. Have you?

I agree; it's too hard to not remain conscious of the process and
reality of the social distancing while watching the show. Of course,
it doesn't help that the storylines are as bad as ever.
I was surprised to see Thomas back... I thought he had to skip town to
avoid going to jail. Did I miss something. OTOH, now that they've
turned Sally into a "bad" character (which really p*sses me off),
maybe they could put Thomas and Sally back together and they could
    hatch evil plans together.
Consistency of the characters is one of the main problems with B&B in
my opinion. Thomas was a pillar of the Forrester family and an up an
coming fashion designer, and Sally was an honest, hard-working version
of her "great-Aunt" Sally Spectra." They were both interesting
characters to watch, and when Thomas and Sally were paired and he
promised to help her revive Spectra Fashions (after Bill Spencer blew
up her building) it was like a wonderful Cinderella story. And then
-- apparently because the producers can't stand having a storyline
that the viewers actually enjoy watching -- Thomas and Sally were for
no apparent reason split up and that storyline ended while they went
back to the incredibly boring, never-ending Hope/Liam/Wyatt/Steffy
    quadrangle.

Oh, and as long as I'm rambling on... kind of OT...
Being from Massachusetts, I'm a lifelong and avid Boston Red Sox
baseball fan. The obvious "social distancing" on B&B reminded me of
another awkward result of the coronavirus pandemic. The major league
baseball season is well underway now with the teams playing in empty
stadiums. In an attempt to give the game a more normal "feel,"
cardboard cut-outs of people have been placed in the stands and
background crowd noise is piped in during the games. Some of the
stadiums even have CGI "people" in the stands for TV.
It's SO bizarre; just plain weird! LOL! I understand what they're
trying to do, but like the awkward social distancing of the actors on
B&B, it's impossible to not constantly think of the abnormal fake
fans, crowd noise and cheering during the ball games. A couple of
days ago one of the Red Sox player hit a home run while playing Tampa
Bay, and the ball knocked down one of the cardboard fan cutouts in the
stands. I laughed out loud. It was exactly like at a fair where you
throw balls to knock down bottles. It was as if the batter should win
a stuffed teddy bear or something for knocking down the cardboard
    cutout. :-D
