• Y&R: Another rant about Adam/Delia

From Zob@21:1/5 to All on Thu Oct 22 04:54:08 2020
    <rant>

    They did it again today.

I am so sick of hearing GC residents say things like, "Adam still
hasn't paid for what he did to Delia."
Adam did not "do" anything to Delia. he was driving his car. He was
not drunk. He was not texting. His SUV was high and he did not see
Delia when she ran in front of his vehicle chasing her dog and he hit
her. When he felt the thud he stopped his vehicle, got out and looked
around. He saw the dog running away and thought that's what he had
hit. He was even concerned about the dog, but decided that it looked
OK and wasn't seriously injured so he drove off.
That night he did NOTHING wrong, any different than any of us might
have. Or any other GC resident would have.
Yes, it was horrible and we all hated to see that cute little girl
killed and off the show. But I still hate when everybody talks as if
he is a monster because he hit her when he didn't even know it at the
time. Especially Billy. I haven't forgotten the evil things that he
has INTENTIONALLY done. I'm so sick of the hypocrites in Genoa City.

I thought for sure at the time of the Adam/Delia storyline that a
witness who maybe saw the accident would eventually turn up to
exonerate him.. or maybe even that it was someone else like evil cult
leader Ian Ward who actually killed Delia while he was hightailing it
out of town that night, and that Adam only later assumed that he's the
one who hit her. That's even still a possibility. We still don't know
for sure that Delia hadn't already been hit and knocked into the brush
before Adam came along and swerved into the bush when the dog ran in
front of him, and her scarf was entangled in the bushes when his car
    picked it up.

Yes, he's done some bad things in the past, especially concerning
Ashley, Patti Williams and Sharon with the whole ridiculous stolen
baby thing. But does not "still need to pay for what he did to
Delia." He did nothing wrong that night.

    -----------------

Everything you said about Adam not being at fault is right. Also, Delia was wearing dark clothing (a witch costume), so it would have been impossible
for anybody to see her. Actually, Billy was more at fault leaving a small
child alone in the car at night.

The only thing Adam can be blamed for is that he didn't come forward and
report the crime when he found out, but for Billy to put all the blame on
Adam is being out of touch with reality.

LOL, Zob. TPTB already addressed Adam's guilt using a trial a few
years ago. Either they forgot it or remembered it, hoping we forgot
it. If so, it's just lazy producing and writing from Anthony Morina
    and Josh Griffith, IMO.

I'd like to excerpt the following Wiki entry about Adam Newman
    now Adam Wilson.

"At the trial, Adam waves his right to self-incriminating himself
and confesses on the stand that he hit Delia and willingly didn't
turn himself in. Adam is resigned to his fate, and during a recess,
he tells Jack that he killed Delia and it is time for him to pay.

When Billy takes the stand, he says it is his fault for letting Delia
stay in the car. Adam stands up and tells Billy it isn't his fault,
and Billy says they all need to forgive Adam. During another
recess, Billy leaves with Victoria and they go to the gecko tree
planted in Delia's honor in Chancellor. Park. They talk about Delia,
and Billy says he forgives Adam. Delia appears as a ghost and
says "I love you daddy." Adam is sentenced to ten years in prison
and tells Chelsea to tell Connor that he loves him...

Just as he was about to go into the prison jeep, a speeding car
comes out of nowhere and hits Adam.... Adam was taken to
the hospital, and allowed to recover from his injuries, before
being transported to prison. Judge Elise Moxley went to see
Adam, and told him how Victor was blackmailing her to help
Adam. Nikki arrived, and told Adam that Elise had an affair,
and Elise said it was with Victor...

...This time around, Michael is able to make a strong enough
case that Moxley decides not to send Adam back to prison,
and instead sentences him to probation and community
service; however, she warns Adam that if he violates his
probation, he will spend his remaining sentence in prison..."

    https://theyoungandtherestless.fandom.com/wiki/Adam_Newman

To summarize: Adam had his day in court and admitted his
guilt in hitting Delia and failing to turn himself in. He was
sentenced to serve ten years in prison. Michael appealed
the case and the judge sentenced probation and community
    service for Adam. Case closed.

Thanks for noticing my absence, Zob. I appreciate it at these difficult times, all's fine. I am using Google groups and they changed this perfectly fine site. Now I cannot post from my telephone (my own fault?). So blame my absence on Google and a little
on my dissatisfaction with the storylines presented by the writer during "November Sweeps".
There is one thing, which I don't get -
Victor welcomed Chance to the family by mentioning that he is the grandson of Kaye Chancellor. She was not his grandmother, Jill was. If I remember right, Kaye Chancellor was horrified that Jill was pregnant with HER husband's child, got drunk behind the
wheel of a car, and had an accident that killed Phillip C., Sr. So how does this make her Chance's grandmother?

    It doesn't.

It just shows how little the writers know about the
characters they're writing for and don't bother to
look it up. Even for comparatively recently added
    characters such as Chance.

There's bound to be a "bible" with this information
somewhere that the writer's could/should access when
    in doubt about a relationship.

It surprises me that EB or one of the other actors
didn't notice the error. I guess no one on the show
cares about things like this as much as the viewers.

Nyssa, who may not be watching anymore, but at least
    knows Chance's linage

I thought the exact same thing.
But Kay was Chance's step-grandmother because she was married to his grandfather. I suppose these types of complicated relationships arise
in a lot of families these days.

Not only that -- but I never cease to be amazed at the jaw-dropping

    Just as a reminder:

Murder attempt #1: Chloe drugged Adam, and blew up the cabin that she
    tied him up in.
Murder attempt #2: Chloe tried to run Adam down after his trial, and
Murder attempt #3: Chloe shot Adam in cold blood, point blank, when
he answered the door at Sharon's house

And this because he *accidentally* hit Delia with his car (if he
really did) because Billy left her unattended in a vehicle with a dog
that she chased after that ran into the road.

This whole thing has gotten ridiculous. Chloe is the one who is
mentally unbalanced and who should be locked up.
