• X-Factor UK Finale

From Zob@21:1/5 to All on Mon Dec 12 16:27:57 2016
I'm very happy that Matt Terry won the X-Factor. But was also a bit
surprised that Five After Midnight went home before Saara. But all's
well that ends well as they say. No doubt Five After Midnight will
get a recording contract with Louis Walsh as their manager and they'll
do well; they're great singers and nice guys as well.

For Saara, it's yet another 2nd place finish for her in her
professional singing contestant career, lol. The Voice, Eurovision.
But she has a wonderful voice and a wonderful career in musical
theater already that she can go back to so she will do just fine also.

It will be interesting to see if Matt can actually sell records now.
So many past X-Factor winners (just as it was with American Idol
winners) have floundered and their careers have gone nowhere. The
successful ones are seemingly few and far between. Leona Lewis.
Alexandra Burke. Little Mix. It remains to be seen if Matt will join
their ranks, or if he will be relegated to the heap of forgotten XF
winners in a couple of years. I've always strongly believed that
their success (of lack of it) has depended on the songs they were
    given for their initial albums.

Congratulations to Matt and good luck to Saara and Five After
    Midnight.

And remember... when I say, "Honey," you say, ...

    Shut up? :-)

I didn't see Saturday's show at all and barely saw Sunday's due to being
away with the family all weekend, but the result was no great surprise.
I too assume 5AM will do just fine, and as to matt, we shall see.

You know, I was just watching parts of the X-Factor UK finals again,
and I realized something. I honestly think that Saara has a certain
degree of autism, similar to Susan Boyle. I'm not saying this as a
slur or to be ugly in any way, just stating a fact. It dawned on me
watching Saara that she has the same over-exagerated, overly
self-conscious reactions that Susan Boyle has. I knew there was
something familiar about her personality, but I couldn't put my finger
on it until now. It's not as severe with her as it is with Susan, but
    it's definitely there IMO.

I have seen it said that everyone is somewhere on the autism spectrum,
though for most of us somewhere that is "normal". So it's no slur to
my mind, indeed better to think it and then allow for it, really!

You could be right, her over-excitable reactions could be just that, or
a symptom. She always seemed very controlled, less obviously nervous,
waiting for results, then OTT when she was safe.

And in other news, Matt isn't getting a deal with Syco but with RCA who apparently want to make him the next Olly Murs. Good luck with that,
    his personality is different!

Yeah, I agree that Matt doesn't have Olly's personality -- which is
Olly's main strength as an artist. Olly is just so darn likable! I
think Matt has a better singing voice, but... guess we shall see.

I think he has too, but it isn't always the best voices that people like
to hear, but the ones with character, personality, something that makes
them stand out, which is what Olly has. I sometimes think that quite a
few of the singers I have liked over the last 50 or more years wouldn't
get through the first auditions for The Voice, and might only make it in
the X Factor with the right song - but they have been amazingly
successful because they did what they were right for - and that's what
Matt needs to find as well.
