I was wondering if there has ever been a superhero that is what I would call a benevolent version of Freddy Kruger, you know a character who does his crime fighting when he is asleep and takes the form of some being that can do superhero things whilehe is physically asleep?

Kind of a neat idea. Write it. We're all witnesses that you came up with
it first.
There are some out-of-body characters, like Negative Man, but there's no sleeping, just that the body goes off when he leaves it. There was a TV
show a while ago where a woman had to go to sleep to have psychic visions.
