Okay, Hellblazer 105 was a pretty good comic (though I've preferred the
last few issues to this one), and I dug seeing J.C.'s ancestor (though I agree that the probability of him having the exact same personality as our J.C. is slim - I mean, why doesn't Johanna, then? Whatever - "it's a kind
of magic"). ANYWAY...I find the whole thing about angels influencing Coleridge (who I love dearly) to be a bit goofy.
I mean, 1)"Xanadu" was supposed to be the latest addition to the bible?
Then why have him start it out describing heaven as a work of Kublai Kahn, pagan of tremendous proportions?
2)Okay, even if somehow Coleridge came out of his stupor and said "hey
look, I've got a new gospel here" who'd belive him? A well-known
carouser, na'er do well, and - particularly damning to his credibility, especially in his times but probably equally in ours - an opium addict.
I liked how the angels showed roughly the same competance as the Watergate burglers, though.
Peace,
Scott
