• Fireball Gebaude Baude - Disney's Robot Princess is Back!

From anthony.baranyi@bell.net@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jan 15 18:58:14 2021
What a pleasant surprise! I just found out that a new series in the “Fireball” anime franchise came out recently, so I found it and watched it. “Fireball Gebaude Baude” is the final part of this marvellously imaginative series of Disney Japan
full CG ultra-short sci-fi animes about a snarky robot princess and her robot servants in some unimaginably distant future.

Yes, Drossel is back, but this time she is being addressed as Ariadne Ojoo-sama. (Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos and helped Theseus kill the Minotaur and escape from the Labyrinth.) Gedachtnis has been replaced by Gebaude Baude. Ariadne/Drossel
is in a slightly different body again. The wonderful Theater of the Absurd approach to the story is still there, along with Ariadne/Drossel’s usual antics. The lightning fast dialog (which is fun to listen to, albeit a big challenge to any non-native
speaker) is still there. The animation is top notch. Overall, this was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. My final rating is A.

Yes, really that is. I liked it after a few seconds.

E.g. in ep#1 at 00:33 Ariadne can be seen in close-up.
"Verschlimmbesserung" (Improvement for the worse) is written on her
forehead. In one word, this is the typical German way of tackling
problems when other than pragmatic engineers are involved.

It may be a description of Ariadne's character.

At 1:31 a kind of on-the-fly delivery service occurs. It is called the "Pechvogel Express" (misadventurer express).

The writers of this show have a very nice way of using the German
language. Looks as they know, what they are doing. I like it.

I watched a couple of episodes in slow motion to get all of these
    subtleties.

The series is of high quality and very detailed in the pictures. It
is also full of innuendos. For example, if you can look between
Ariadne's legs, but there is nothing special to see, because she is a
    robot.

    Arne -

Thanks for the translation of those little jokes in German. That makes the series even more impressive.

I'll add a few explanations here, which make the play on words easier
    to understand.

At 1:31 a kind of on-the-fly delivery service occurs. It is called the >"Pechvogel Express" (misadventurer express).

The German word "Pechvogel" literally translated would mean "pitch
bird" in English. That is why it is used as the name for a flying
delivery service. At the same time, it also shows that the original
meanings of the words have been forgotten in the world in which the
    anime is set.

Something like Cancel Culture in Fireballian by natural time laps. :-)

The German parcel service DHL has given up its attempt to deliver
parcels with drones. Well, the name of this flying delivery service
was "Paketkopter" (package copter). If its name had been "Pechvogel
Express", that would have been ok too.

Amazon is also reducing its similar projects.

Apparently an anime writer had prophetic gifts. :-)
