So the Spring 2020 anime season went out with a whimper, or maybe a sniffle. But then, that’s a good way to describe Spring 2020 in general. Four of the five anime series that I was following – “Conan”, “One Piece”, Fugou Keiji” and “
Houkago Teibou” all stopped production and went into hiatus. Only the goofy 5 minute long “Zashiki Warashi no Tatami-chan” continued and completed.
“Tatami-chan” was actually a nice bit of cynical fun. Each episode ridiculed a different aspect of contemporary Japanese society. As with any short comedy like this, some episodes worked very well and some fell flat. But all-in-all it successfully
gave me something to chuckle at each week. My final rating was B.
