She will reach that milestone on March 17 with the release of Kyokai No
Rinne #35. (Kyokai means border between life and death but it's pronounced exactly the same as Japanese for church.)

She celebrated 35 years as a manga artist in 2013.

Not really look at the early titles, which are all
shonen stories with lots of fan service. She was one of the
most popular mangaka of that time. Her work habits were
excellent and she was an example to all aspiring mangaka.
As to why she was a practical person and thought
the best money was in writing for boys and young men.
It is funny though that one of her best known
tales is about a boy, Ranma, based on Bruce Lee. but who
transforms frequently from boy to girl. The girl presents
a boy's idea of a girl who uses her beauty and cuteness
    to get stuff from men.
Ranma ½ was even popular in the USA as were others
    of her stories.
She protests that her work is intended for the Japanese
market and insults the understanding of foreigners by saying
she does not see how they could appreciate the very Japanese
    stories.
Thanks for the note about her total sales.
